Box Brief:
Bring A Friend Day is this Thursday!

Congrats to Jackie Hathaway for being the October Member of the Month at Apollo! Scroll down to learn more about Jackie.

Jackie

Congrats on being the October Member of the Month! Do you feel any different? Like you’re walking on clouds or nervous about all the paparazzi you’re about to deal with?
I am a bit embarrassed, because I don’t feel like I’ve done anything great or made any huge achievements to deserve to be member of the month. There are a lot of other people out there killing it!!

How did you get started in CrossFit and what keeps you coming back to Apollo?
My husband, Mike was going to CrossFit at City Athletic Club and was seeing good results. Four years ago on our 14th anniversary, I decided to go with him. I worked out there for 2 years and have now been at Apollo for 2 years. I keep coming back, because of the results I see. I am stronger and more tone. I can be a competitive person and like the challenge and variations of the workouts. I also always say that this is my social hour. I love the friends that I’ve made and the conversations that we have, sometimes long after class is over.

What is the most embarrassing thing that’s ever happened to you? Don’t hold back!
I try really hard not to put myself in embarrassing situations. I asked Mike and he couldn’t think of anything. I asked my kids, but they said that I just do things to purposely embarrass them. If I had to say something, I would say it was the time I took a private pole dancing class at the Hard Rock Hotel with a group of friends. I realized very quickly that I do not have career in this field. I was like that girl in the new Jumanji movie who had to try to walk and act all sexy and she was anything but that. Ya, that was me!

You walk more than anyone I know after class each day. How far do you normally go and why? Is it your time to decompress or are you on the phone gettin’ things done?
I usually walk between one and a half to two miles a day. I occasionally throw a jog in there, but mostly I walk. I like to listen to audio books, so I don’t feel guilty taking the time to listen to them while I walk. I also like the extra exercise and just being outside. It makes me feel good! And I really like candy, so I don’t feel as guilty when I have a little treat!

Describe your absolute perfect day.
I would wake up naturally, meaning not to my alarm. I would have a huge breakfast of french toast, bacon, sausage, hash browns and a soft serve ice cream cone. I would go to CrossFit. Take a walk. I’d go out to lunch with friends to On the Border and have the brisket tacos. Then I would watch my DVR for a few hours until dinner. For dinner I’d go to BJ’s with my husband and friends and have Southern Fried Chicken followed by a Peanut butter Smore’s Pazookie. Then I would come home to a clean, quiet home and get into bed and watch TV until I fell asleep.

Would you rather have, more time or more money? Why?
I’d rather have more money. I love money! I would like to have a lot of it!! I hate worrying about money, so I’d like to have enough that it doesn’t concern me. I would love to walk into a store or anywhere and get whatever I want without even looking at the price. I also love to travel. I want to see the world! I often fantasize about winning the lottery and what I would do with all that money and all the people I would help!! It’s always a great dream!
