Biography

I come from a big family and grew up in a little town in northern Utah.  I played a lot of different sports when I was young but eventually found my love in power tumbling.  I competed around the country and was able to compete in the World Age Group Games three years in a row in South Africa and Australia.  After several injuries, I decided to retire from the sport after 14 years and turned my focus to running and weight training.  I have run 3 marathons and a handful of half marathons.

I was introduced to CrossFit by my husband, Ben.  He did it for a few years before I really got interested.  When he was in the best shape of his life in his late 30s, I started to think that there must be something to it.  I finally started in 2015, shortly after having my third baby, and have been in love ever since.

The body… physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual has always been something that intrigues me. I’ve spent my life studying the body and how a healthy mind and body are connected, and we need to take care of both or one suffers.  The more I do CrossFit, the more I realize it is so much more than physical.

I love helping people and sharing my passion of health, so I got my level 1 CrossFit certification and began teaching the CrossFit kids class at Apollo in August 2020.  I love seeing the kids learn how to move their bodies and overcome obstacles.  The word “can’t” is not allowed in class unless “yet” is the word spoken after.  Teaching these kids that they can accomplish movements and workouts they didn’t think possible will not only help them with their physical fitness but set them up for success in every aspect of their lives.
